February 14, 2005: The Gates 1
Friday afternoon I decided to check out The Gates because I read that they had completed putting them up on Thursday. However, what I didn't realize until I got to Central Park was that the exhibit (for a lack of a better word) didn't actually open until Saturday morning.
While I didn't have an opportunity to see the saffron drapes hanging down that day, it was interesting to see the structures "naked." I also appreciated seeing the structures by themselves and without the hoards of people that I saw on Sunday.
